Meet the Pod.

A Pod begins with a vision, but it only becomes possible when the right people gather around it. This is the team taking shape around Lily House Studio's first one.

Jhaynane Bastien
Who I am
I’m a human being first and foremost. On this planet, I’m also a writer, a mother, a founder, and a creator. I carry lots of labels and wear many hats, but if I have to label myself, the one that fits best is multi-hyphenate creative. I’m drawn to honesty and the human experience. I’m obsessed with understanding why people do what they do, what shapes us, and what it really means to be human.
What inspired this Pod
A car accident. It began with wanting to document my healing and recovery while I was in what I call my sad-girl era. But the world already feels sad, drab, and dreary enough, and I didn’t want to make more depressing content. There’s enough of that as is. So I understood that I wanted to tell a story that could inspire people, make them feel seen, and show them that the end of one way of life is not necessarily the end. It can be the beginning of something different, even when that something does not look the way you expected or wanted.
What I hope you take from the story
Life can suck sometimes. But the sucky parts can lead somewhere greater. Sometimes getting there takes effort, a little courage, and trust in yourself. I want people to remember that humans are resilient. And when the future is uncertain, uncertainty does not always have to mean fear. It can mean there are infinite possibilities, an abundance of choices and directions in front of you. You still have to choose which wave you want to ride.

What we're building together

In Search Of…
Healing

Seven-part documentary series · American West

A woman whose body no longer functions the way it once did because of a car accident chooses to undertake seven hikes while confronting the possibility that healing may not mean returning to who she was before.

Watch a sneak peek
Why this. Why now.

When we are inside a difficult chapter, it can feel like that chapter is the whole story.

But our lives keep changing. So do we.

In Search Of… Healing asks how we allow the things that happen to us to change us without believing they have to define everything that comes after.

Because the real question is not always how we get back to who we were.

Sometimes it is: Who are we becoming now?

What the story is exploring

What comes after the rupture?

01 · Identity

Who are we becoming?

Who are we when the life, body, future, or version of ourselves we understood no longer exists in quite the same way?

02 · The Invisible

What cannot be seen?

What happens when some of what we are recovering from cannot be easily seen, measured, or understood by the people around us?

03 · After the Rupture

What comes next?

What happens when a difficult chapter changes us permanently, but does not become our permanent condition? What do we carry forward, what do we leave behind, and who do we become because we lived through it?

The question that follows us

What are we carrying that no one else can see?

Follow what Lily House is building.

This is where we make things. Our first Pod is building In Search Of… Healing, a documentary series following a journey through seven places, seven hikes, and the question of what it means to keep moving forward. We’ll bring you along as it grows.
